Reese Roo Day 806

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

Well, I started this post yesterday.  With hopes of having it ready to go as soon as I sat my happy, tired but down at work this morning.  The only issue is that Little Miss was a hoot this morning.  And essentially hijacked this posted.

Seriously, I don't think a day goes by in our house where we don't laugh.  Because of her.

And if we don't laugh.  We smile.  A lot.  As in my-heart-is-melting smile.

Case in point, this morning she grabbed our at home doppler and said, "I find my baby."  Her and I tried to find it.  Although by time the Husband could grab my phone, she was over it.  Until she insisted on finding her baby herself.

Melt-my-heart-type-moment.

Moments later, it was an I-can't-stop-laughing moment.  The kid must love being dizzy, because she insisted that her daddy keep on spinning her for a solid ten minutes straight.  The only reason the fun stopped was because daddy was too dizzy to do it anymore.  And clearly, by they way she is walking around at the end of this video, so was she.

But back to my original Reese-Roo post.  It's not a big secret.  We've contemplated potty training little miss since the Ice Storm of 2013.

And by contemplated, I mean, I posted about on facebook, was sent the 3-day guide to potty training and woke up the next morning ready to go.  Until (a) I had to clean up three pees and one poop within the first few hours of my morning and (b) the guide told me that I had to let her nap and sleep the night without a diaper.

Not going to happen.  So I made the decision that clearly, Reese (I mean, we, or better yet I) wasn't ready.

Since then we've toyed with it and encouraged to go.  However, despite a few successes at school, the only successes we've had at home were long sits on the potty.

So I had the bright idea to try and bribe her.  With her favorite thing ever.  Candy.  Specifically, the pink valentines day M&Ms.

To some extent, its worked.  As in, she now insists on sitting on the potty, trying, wiping, and then flushing.  Only to start to walk out of the bathroom, and then insist on trying again.

And then she gets upset when, because there is nothing in the toilet to show for her efforts, she doesn't get a candy.  Or better yet, I give her one candy for effort and say you can have another when you actually go potty in the potty.

I realize that she is just over 2. And I don't want to make a big deal out of it and frustrate either her or I.  But for some reason, I just want her to go on the potty.  Just once.

And apparently, so does she.

Because even this morning, she insisted on sitting on not one, but two toilets, just to "go potty."

Any potty training tips or suggestions?
