Weekend Recap

Somehow, it's Monday morning...

...again...

...and despite my attempts to cuddle with them and get them to go back to sleep, both girls were both up and at them at 5:45 this morning.  Not how I envisioned starting off this week...but at least we had a fun weekend right?

Friday night was pretty low key as Grandma had an interview in Dallas that morning so her and Grandpa Mike stuck around and spent the night.  We just ate pizza, hung out, and then they took the girls out for ice cream while the husband and I took advantage of the peace and quiet to clean up the house and literally just sit on the couch.

Aside from Littlest Miss's gymnastics Saturday morning, we really just hung around for most of the time.  Grandma may have some really cool apps on her iPad which thoroughly entertained the girls:

They also entertained the girls with a quick run to Toys R Us for Shopkins (watch out future guests of Hotel Stewart, this is quickly becoming a must do activity) and Small Cakes for Cupcakes.  Clearly, the girls thought the cupcakes were yucky:

We spent the rest of the afternoon napping and running errands, namely doing a few last minute returns (returns on day 30 of 30 count!) and spending some "fun" money that Auntie Barb sent us -- J Crew Factory and Banana Republic for the win.  Thank you Auntie Barb!  We love our new clothes and don't we look stylish?

Saturday night concluded with a "birthday" party for our neighbor Drew.  It was his birthday, but really it was just another excuse to get the crew together.  It really is awesome how well all of us parents get along, and maybe more importantly, how well our kids get a long.  The kids played outside, the parents enjoyed adult beverages, everyone ate tacos and Bundt cake.

We finally calmed the kids down with some good old fashion microwave popcorn and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

And just when we had them all calm, cool and collected, somehow Just Dance ended up on the TV.  Did the kids enjoy it?  Not so much, but the parents, now that's a different story.

The weekend continued Sunday with Sunday Funday.  The Husband spent the morning golfing with the Birthday Boy and some friends, while us girls made it to church (even though we left the house 12 minutes after it started we took the front row parking space as a sign that God wanted us there) and did the grocery shopping for the week.  After a quick lunch, the four of us then headed out to watch the Byron Nelson golf tournament.

Not sure that it was the greatest thing for a almost 2 and 4.5 year old, but it was an experience nonetheless and the girls did have a blast riding on the charter shuttle bus from the stadium to the course, running around in the grass and eating cheetos and doritos.  And yes, we kept it classy at the golf tournament.  Seriously.

The husband and I just enjoyed doing something different and trying to take in a bit of golf -- although with the girls, we saw very few shots being hit, but did see almost every golfer walk right by us on their way to the 18th hole.  Everyone except Jordan Speith, the hometown favorite.  We heard rumblings of how big his fan section was and decide that it was better to get out before the crowd engulfed us.  Seriously, we saw them coming on the way out -- and both of us commented that it was a lot like a pack of walkers coming at you from The Walking Dead.  Good thing we left when we did -- especially since Jordan crumbled and there was an eventual playoff, which meant we got out of there, back on the shuttle and in our car relatively easily!

And clearly both girls had fun as well

happy monday...so ready for the next weekend already!
