So today's post is a little bit about where we are currently with each room, what's been done recently, and what still needs to be done (aside from lighting, which I'd like to update all of it at some point as its currently just the standard builder grade)
Living Room
As of late, we've decorated the bookshelves, laid a new rug and have incorporated the pillows that I purchased last weekend at Magnolia Market. So this is the starting point for this room:
Which fairly closely mimics the design board that I recently put together with some slight deviations.
However, before I can feel as though its complete I still want to do the following:
- Make curtains
- Style console table
- Purchase and style an end table
- Buy one more pillow from Magnolia Market (we are going again this Friday so fingers crossed they still have them!)
- Buy a new desk chair for the desk
In all honesty, this rooms seems pretty doable...maybe I should focus here!
Kitchen/Breakfast Nook
Truth be told, we haven't done much in either of these rooms. All of the furniture is from our old house and the one piece of art that we currently have up doesn't seem to fit there:
So for starters my to-do list includes:
- Make curtains (to coordinate with the living room)
- Hang said curtains
- Purchase a round dining table
- Add a rug under the table
- Get 4 blue metal chairs
- Add a centerpiece to the kitchen table
- Build a wall herb garden
- Get barstools for breakfast bar
- Find one of these for outside of the pantry
- Do something with pantry door
- Do something with pantry door
- Figure out art for the butlers pantry
- Organize cabinents and drawers
- Add cute dish towels and possible a run in front of the sink to add color
- Stain the current step stool
Eeks. That's a lot. And no clue where to start...so my guess is that this room will come along very, very slowly.
Dining Room
Like our kitchen, this room consists of mostly repurposed items.
and for now, I am okay with it as (a) it looks somewhat finished and (b) we hardly use this room. However, it's still probably smart to start a to-do list -- at least a short term one:
- Move coat rack
- Add drapes or window coverings
Entry Way
This poor area. At one point, it had made so much progress. The entry way table was styled and we loved the gallery wall.
But the decorating of the bookshelves left the entry way table empty, and the gallery wall feeling cluttered. Thankfully, I have a vision for this area.
- Decorate entry way table
- Take down the Christmas star that still hanging
- Move gallery wall to "new" office
- Create Ribba gallery wall like this
- Add baskets to the stairs for the girls errant stuff
- Get a round table for the stair nook
- Buy a vase and add the already purchased tulips
- Create a cell phone drop basket
Hallway
Thankfully this is a small space, which currently looks like this.
I have had 3 pallet frames sitting the garage for months, that we couldn't previously hang because of the location of our thermostat. But now that our contractor has moved it over closer to the wall, we can hang away and get this area done!
- Hang frames
- Add pictures to frames
New Office
As this is currently our media room, I struggle to vision what I want it to look like other than its current state.
However, I do have some initial ideas.
- Move gallery wall
- Move couch from upstairs office down here
- Buy or build shelving along back wall
- Window treatments
- Get a new desk and chair
- Add a treadmill or bike or eliptical
- Add some art
- Make or get a glass door that says "office"
Powder Room
This is definitely a work in progress as I am dumbfounded by the picture window and other than cover it up (which the contractors eventually will) I do not know what to do with this room.
I think I am going to try and make it look something like this.
But that is so far down the line that no to-do list is warranted.
Laundry Room
We are loving the current laundry room, but even with the built ins it still feels incomplete. Hopefully tackling the following will help a bunch:
- Build counter over washer and dryer with laundry basket storage
- Remove existing shelves
- Add floating shelves
- Add tile or wallpaper to focus wall
- Add art and accessories and maybe a drying rack
- Add baskets to mudroom lockers
Master Bedroom
This room kicked off the decorating bug as I had Pottery Barn help me figure out bedding. So our starting point (when the bed is made of course) is this (my apologies for bad lighting!):
However, since starting we've spent little to no time or money doing anything else. So here's to hopping to get back on the productive wagon:
- Hang curtains (which are already purchased)
- Hang picture frames above bed
- Find pictures for said picture frames
- Purchase a large floor mirror
- Purchase and hang four framed maps
- Purchase leather chaise
- Purchase throw blanket for said chaise
- Add a table and/or floor lamp
- Add legs to bed
- Reupholster bed
- Add legs to bed
- Reupholster bed
- Order this art
- Paint the room
- Style nightstands and dresser
- Add some plants/greenery
And once I tackle that, I'll start thinking about the master bath. I am a true believer in flow...but because these rooms are so close, I think I need to finish one before starting the other.
Little Miss's Room
In my opinion, her current room is just too pink. plus, she needs a bigger bed both for nightly family book reading and for an extra guest bed when guests come to town. So I don't envision it staying like this much longer:
The kicker to designing this room is incorporating the tent that her aunt got her. She still plays in it all the time, but given my decorating style, the red is somewhat of a challenge. But hoping that with this bedding and the rest of the changes the room will come together like clockwork.
- Buy full sheets and comfortor (Target)
- Move dresser from closet to under the R
- Add mirror above dresser
- Add shiplap #shiplap
- Move photos
Littlest Miss's Room
This room has probably had the most time, love and energy put into it.
Thus, even though we do envision her moving out of the crib shortly, I am hopeful that it won't take too much to finish it:
- Move chair out of room and put errant tent in its place
- Build or buy a day bed
- Buy new bedding
- Add monogram and maybe a gallery wall above dresser
Guest Room
This room has gotten some TLC as well as for some reason I felt that it was important that the guests have a nice room to sleep in while they are visiting.
However, since doing a marathon paint session right before that first visitor, I've really neglected this room and it still has a bit to be done:
- Organize closet so guests can actually hang things
- Covert bookshelve into "dresser"/hutch and decorate
- Hang mirrors above the bed (Note. the husband hung one last night!)
- Built in nightstands and sconses
- Hand window treatments (hung, but need to be ironed)
- Make plexiglass and wood frame for map art (and hang)
- Get a ladder, paint and add additional blankets
- Other art as necessary
Playroom
Because of the layout, I struggle with this room. Big time.
Currently thinking about something like this with an art table and various poufs throughout the room.
But let's be honest. This is the toy dumping ground. And for now, I am okay with this.
Guest Bathroom.
It currently looks like this
and I'd like it to look like this

- Add beadboard
- Paint wall
- Paint beadboard
- Stain shower grout
- Add bathroom accessories
New Movie Room
Half of this room doesn't even exist as of today, so hard to show you a before picture. However, because I know that I want to use this room to justify its existence, I have started putting together a mood board.
Asides from these initial thoughts, the only must do is to build and install barn doors! Love them and figure it will cut down on the decor needed in the playroom!

A to-do list will come later!
Girls Bathroom
They don't use it. Except in the middle of the night. Or if Littlest Miss poops mid-bath in our room. So this is a non-priority.
Loft
This is currently where all folded laundry goes in hopes of making it to a drawer one day. Sadly, that normally takes weeks to occur.
However, I'd love for it to become my area and the girls art area. Not ready to fully decorate it yet, but a few small to-dos should help it a lot:
- Add three canvases of the girls to the wall
- Hang art display
- Install shelves
Front Porch
We currently have our outdoor couch here, but that will shortly be getting relocated to the back yard. A to-do list will eventually be put together but currently thinking either this:

or this:

for this space.
Back Porch
This concrete pad will be a massive undertaking. And at this point, I am too overwhelmed to think.
- Move couch here
- Set up table
- Find a rug
- Enjoy!
Whew, that's quite a list. And realistically, I don't expect it to be done anytime soon, but hopefully just writing it down will help keep me somewhat organized and on the road to progress!
What about you? What projects or to-do's do you have around the house?
