Here's some of the ways that they've been exerting their independence lately:
Littlest Miss
Independence may as well be her middle name. But where so most often exerts it currently is trying to get dressed. Let's just say its a struggle at times. She can do it. Sort of. It may take 10 minutes. Two feet may end up in one pant leg.
Sometimes she'll cave and ask for help.
But she's trying. That's what's important, right?
Other than trying to get dressed she is also dead set on climbing into the car by herself, brushing her teeth, and my favorite, walking out of school with her backpack on (despite it being as big as her):
What can I say, love her, love this stage!
Little Miss
Our ever independent (except when falling asleep child) is still learning new tricks each and every day with her newest trick being buckling herself into her carseat. Not only can she do it, but its a must do. Even if we are running late and its gonna take her 10 minutes. And heaven forbid you try (or actually) to buckle her in. The husband did this yesterday, and I am pretty sure there were crocodile tears all the way to gymnastics.
At least the exchanges between them make me laugh and curb my frustration of trying to get anywhere on time:
Littlest: No, no, no (to Little trying to help)
Little: Bear if you let sissy help I'll give you a candy treat
Little must have felt me giving her the death stare because she looked up at me and almost in a whisper replied:
Little: Dont worry mom, I'm only tricking her
