Although I have a few blog posts in draft, nothing seemed fitting for today. And in an effort to turn this blog writing into an actual habit this time, I figured I'd better post something today. And what better than to jump back on this bandwagon:
1. Keeping with the Easter theme of the week, while the husband was traveling for work this week, I took the girls to Bass Pro to see the Easter Bunny. This was a first for both, even though Little Miss is almost 4.5 years old. Needless to say it went exactly as I anticipated.
Little Miss was all smiles and only slightly disappointed that the bunny didn't talk to her, while Littlest Miss wanted nothing to do with the bunny. That's her reaction from 20 feet away. No way was I going to get a solo shot of her and the bunny. Even a shot of her and her sister with the bunny. Sitting on my lap was the best I could do and still pretty shocked that there weren't tears in this picture.
2. Part of the reason I took the girls to see the Easter bunny this year (other than an activity that kept us out of the house without daddy!) was that Little Miss seemed genuinely excited about it this year. First, Little Miss found the egg spinner in the cabinet and excited proclaimed that the Easter bunny brought her a gift (in reality it was just Mommy's poor attempt to put it somewhere she wouldn't find it; but her cup/plate cabinet was probably not the best place!)
Then, just the other day, her and her friends from school were convinced that the Easter bunny had visited their classroom. When I dropped her off, the few kids already there were already busy scouring the room looking for traces of the Easter bunny. Her teacher said this continued most of the day -- and when I picked her up, she was quick to point out "the dirty footprint," and "piece of fur" that he supposedly left behind from his visit. Their excitement was beyond cute.
Because of this, I am tempted to do this (another pinterest idea) this Sunday:
Husband says its too much - setting the bar too high and taking away from the true meaning of Easter. I on the other hand think it would just add to the day...if only I wasn't concerned about the potential mess and subsequent clean up...
3. For the first time in who knows how long, we don't have evening plans this weekend. I am sure that will change, but I am excited to maybe being productive around the house. I have a long list of projects and honey-do lists which seem to only get longer.
No fear though we do have plans to go to another Easter egg hunt with friends tomorrow and then attend Easter brunch with my book club on Easter, followed by a small neighborhood egg hunt that afternoon.
4. Speaking of the house, about a month ago we signed a pretty large contract to do some extensive work on the house -- built ins in the living room, reconfiguring the laundry room and the big project -- extending the second story to move the media room and building an outdoor living area.
The first two projects were completed shortly after signing the contract as they did not require permitting and the end results were great. However, we just got the green light to start on the larger project this week and work officially began yesterday. Thus, our house currently looks like this.
There had been a small covered patio off of this just yesterday morning. I'll do a full post on this next week, but still a pretty exciting (and scary) thing that occurred this week.
5. Last but not least, Happy Easter Y'all. Hopefully you have a great weekend celebrating with friends and family!
Have a very Happy Easter! This is the first year we haven't taken the kids to see the Easter Bunny. I just know they would be scared and would never sit on his lap, so I didn't even attempt it. I'm sad I won't have a picture for this year, but I didn't want to torture the poor kids, ha!
