We started Saturday morning off with another egg hunt -- this time with our old day care friends. I love that Reese has stayed close to them despite not being classmates for almost 6 months. Now if only we could get them all to move out our way all would be good.
This egg hunt was a bit bigger than the previous one we went to, but both still managed to come away with more than enough candy. It probably helped that the candy was just thrown on the ground, as well as being in eggs. Even Wrigley got to partake in the fun.
Eagerly awaiting the hunt. Both girls did the 4 - 6 year old field; although we probably should have done the 0 - 3field as the lady behind us even pointed out to us that we were at the wrong one! Little Miss is tiny enough to pass for 3 apparently!
After the hunt, we headed to lunch with some of the sweet friends (sorry no pics, mom was too busy attended boo-boos and preventing meltdowns), worked on the house, and just relaxed watching basketball.
With Church 30 minutes earlier than normal, we were up and at them early Sunday morning, but this did not put a damper on the girls easter morning full of easter baskets and finding their golden eggs:
This year's loot consisted of new rash gaurd swimsuits, a new cover up, sand toys (one smart Easter bunny apparently knew we are heading to the beach in just over a month!), some sunglasses, a headband, coloring kit, paint kit, cookie, chocolate bunny, jelly beans and some peeps!
The chocolate bunny was definitely Little Miss's favorite...she's only been asking for one for weeks but was convinced that the Easter bunny could not make chocolate bunnies...
After church we headed to brunch with the other families of our book club. Good food (especially the monkey bread), even better company, and lots of fun. And yes, brunch consisted of yet another egg hunt. For those counting, this is # 4 (including the one at school, not including the one at our house)
The funniest part of this hunt may have happened between Littlest Miss and Daddy. Littlest Miss is currently going through the "Mine" and "No" stage. (yes, its super fun!) Needless to say, she was not pleased when she caught Daddy eating one of her Starbursts. Despite there being two and Daddy being half way through opening the second one for her, she did this:
Yes, she stole the half chewed Starburst right out of his mouth and ate it. All the adults died laughing. To her, it was no big deal. Lesson learned. Don't take whats her's.
Shortly, after we headed home to rest up for a neighborhood hunt (egg hunt # 5). By this point both girls were pros. Claire definitely had figured out this whole egg hunt.
The video doesn't capture it, but her typical technique was to run to the egg, fall on it and immediately insist on eating candy. Maybe because daddy for got her basket...
Reese was probably the clear "winner" of this hunt. Not only was she super experienced by this point, but they grouped the kids into 4 and under and 5 and up. At first she was a bit sad that she was separated from her friends (who are all 5), but being with the the younger kids -- and the 30 second head start -- clearly gave her an advantage. At one point, I had to direct her away from the egg-rich spots to a lesser populated area just so others could have some eggs.
After inspecting their loot and burning off some of the sugar, we headed home, painted a bit, and spent the rest of the evening hanging out with Aunt Sheryl who happened to be in town.
It was a great way to cap off a great weekend.
Super cute Easter Baskets! It looks like you had a very nice Easter.
