The house updates are not nearly as noticable this week. Actually, from the outside, I am not even sure you can see that there were any visual improvements.
Other than the large piles of trash being picked up and moved elsewhere. And maybe a couple of windows and doors installed (i.e. we had no idea that the dining room would have french doors leading out to the front porch until this weekend. Needless to say, we are pleasantly surprised).
The inside has been cleaned up a bit as well. Apparently, this week is all about inspections and small fixes to the current structure.
Followed by our pre-drywall meeting this Friday.
So although not visable changes, its still progress. And I am still holding out hope that we can be in before littlest miss comes along.
Definitely can't complain about the progress, although we did have a bit of a "scare" this weekend. Okay, to be honest, I had a minor freak out. Heck, I even started looking at other properties and houses to buy, but the husband remained unfazed. Essentially, I got a picture from another homeowner in the neighborhood. The picture was of his house with a sign that said "Before you think of buying a Monterey home by Meritage CALL ME or stop by."
Needless to say, I assumed the worst. Thankfully, we were able to connect on Sunday and it turns out that he is definitely frustrated with a lot of things, but that at the end of the day his issues are nothing structural with the house. Rather they are more related to the finishes, the quality of the finishes, and the speed at which issues post-close are being addressed. The husband and I definitely appreciate the heads up and will now be even bigger pain in the rear's than we were planning on being to try to ensure that we have as few of headaches as possible once we move in.
The big perk about that phone call -- other than the reinforcement that we need to be diligent -- is that hopefully, we've either found playmates for little and littlest miss in the neighborhood (a family of 6 lives there!) or we've found a local babysitter. Or who knows -- potentially we found both!
