Littlest Miss - 24 Weeks

Thursday, March 6, 2014

It's been a bad week in terms of blogging.  Bad in the sense that I haven't been at my computer much due to an ice day (Monday) and a random vacation day (yesterday).  But great in the sense that because I haven't been sitting in front of this machine, I've gotten a lot done.  More on that tomorrow.  But it also means that we are one week closer to meeting Littlest Miss.

Bump shot taken this weekend while out running.

Size of BabyYour baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at about 1 1/3 pounds. Since he's almost a foot long (about the size of an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I'll be honest, I haven't stepped on the scale.   However, I have eaten a lot of junk food lately.  My guess is that the scale has gone up and I'll find out by how much tomorrow!

Maternity Clothes: No change from last week.  A combo of maternity pants or belly bands on normal pants.  All normal shirts and dresses.

Gender: More pink and tu-tus.  Another sweet baby GIRL!

Movement: Tons.  We've had several rounds of patty-cake this week while at work.  And she's been squirming every night for daddy.

Food Cravings:  None really.  Although I definitely favor sweet foods over anything else. And carbs always seem to do the trick.

What I miss: Nothing that I can't live without.  I do have my occasional half glass of wine (occasional as in maybe once a week!)

Sleep: Sleep is great.  And still cannot get enough.  Most nights I could curl up in bed around 8 and am pretty sure I could sleep until 8 the next morning, if only I wasn't awaken by the alarm or the jabbering toddler.

Symptoms: bump, and lack of energy.  But otherwise, feeling great!

Best Moment this week:  Making it to 24 weeks.  There is something about this milestone that is such a relief.  Watching Reese interact with her little sister.  This week she shared her paci and her blanket, and read her stories.  Heart melting.

What I am looking forward to: Lots.  Name.  Nursery.  And most importantly, getting to see her again tomorrow at my appointment.  Apparently, she did not cooperate at the last ultra sound so they didn't get a good image of her heart.  Oh darn...another ultrasound for us!

  1. We just had an ultrasound this morning and it's just amazing watching them move around in there. So glad to hear all is going well. Are you announcing the name on the blog? I ask because we have absolutely NO idea what we're going to name this poor child. Feel free to throw out the names you're not choosing - we need ideas!
