# 1. Cupcakes
So they are not entirely homemade. They are homemade in the sense that Reese dumped the mix, water and apple sauce into the eggs and attempted to stir it. And then I put it in muffin tins, baked, and covered with pre-made funfetti fronsting. But for a snowy-school-canceled afternoon, it was the perfect way to kick off Valentine's Day week.
The only bummer. In the middle of the night, a certain puppy may have eaten four of them. Thankfully, they weren't frosted yet, otherwise we might be dealing with pretty bad tummy ache.
# 2. Valentine's Day Cards
I am a sucker. Or maybe just a true Pinterest addict. For whatever reason, I cannot just go and buy the store bought cards. Photo cards seem so overdone as we just did photo Christmas cards. And given that these really are for Reese's little classmates, to be given at their already sugar-filled party, I didn't want to do anything that included candy. So I think I've settled on these.
They are on my agenda for this weekend (as are photos, little gym, taking Reese to see frozen, church and relaxing...) so we'll see how they turn out!
# 3. Valentine's Day Art
I've seen lots of blog posts about Valentine's Day art and now I feel the need to partake in some with Reese. I am leaning towards creating our own version of this.
I have a feeling that paint will end up all over our house. Thankfully, its just a rental at this time.
# 4. Contribution to the Party
As mentioned above, Reese's class will be having a Valentine's Day party with each kid signing up to bring something. I've signed up to bring fruit. Of course I can't just bring fruit. I am thinking I'll have to do something like this. Again, dang you pinterest.
# 5. The Husband and I.
We've done various things throughout the years. My favorite was probably our first year in DC where we did a Chocolate and Wine tasting tour or last year where we got each other a decent bottle of wine and indulged in crab legs and bubbles at home. I'd love to recreate last year as an annual tradition, but given that we live in an apartment (and probably don't have sufficient ventilation) and I technically cannot drink bubbles, I am guessing that it just won't be the same this year. Thus, I am in need of ideas! Any stay at home Valentine's day ideas for this preggo?
Happy weekend! Enjoy your Valentine's Day WEEK!
love this valentine's post! so many good ideas. also--LOVE the name reese! so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat heart shaped fruit is adorable! And I would kill for a wine & chocolate dinner! My husband and I attended an event like that before kids and it was amazing! Maybe I will recreate it at home!
ReplyDeleteLove this post. I have a severe pinterest addiction as well. I'm doing the teddy grahams as bear hugs for our valentine's party on Friday. We also just created our handprint art this past week, we did the upside down hands with a heart in the middle. Holidays are definitely more fun with little ones!
ReplyDeleteSO stealing that love sign idea. How cute is that! I'm such a sucker for baby footprints :)
