We've got plumbing

Thankfully, after several scheduling headaches, we finally met with our builder last Friday morning.  Nothing at that meeting was overly earth-shattering or ground breaking.  We just walked through all of our selections and options, including electrical and any questions that we had about the plan. Although most of it seemed like a waste of time, we did catch a few things about our specific plan that weren't entirely right. A half wall where there should have been a full wall.  Some missing outlets and cable jacks. But thankfully, nothing major.

The most important part of the discussion, at least in this preggo-s mind was when would the house be ready.  When we signed the contract back in September, we were initially told early April.  However, we are now being told at best end-of-May, which is fine.

But what the builder didn't seem to hear was that June is not fine.

In our perfect little world, we'll only close in the end-of-May (okay, maybe the first week of June) and then after July 15th.  Something about moving the month that this baby is due and/or within the first two weeks of bringing this baby home doesn't sit well with this Momma.  But the builders response to this...June is totally doable.

Grrrr...

...regardless, I am excited for the house to be built and for us to get to move in.  We may just have to revisit the timing and the need to reprioritize somethings in the next few months.

In the meantime, it will be fun to watch the house go up each week.  Our new house, which is approximately 15 minutes from where we currently live, is less than five minutes from our church, so we fully plan on stopping by each Sunday (or at least each Sunday that we make it to church!) to monitor the progress.  Here's where we were at as of last Friday:

The general outline of the foundation is complete and (I guess) the plumbing has been laid.  The next step is to have the plumbing inspected and then they'll be able to lay the foundation...they are hopeful that this will get done later this week or early next week.

Fingers crossed that they stay on track!

  1. Oh my gosh.... men!! I will say that moving when you're almost due won't be too bad (despite the stress) You'll have a lot of volunteers help out since you'll be so pregnant :) But moving the first 2 weeks after baby is here? Yeah, I would kill the builder!
But so exciting that things are coming along!!
