Waiting on the walls

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

On Friday, we had our pre-dry wall meeting with the builder. Overall, things went really well as we only had a few minor changes:

* Missing floor plug in the living room
* Height and location of the pot filler
* Missing outlet on the front porch
* Cable/telephone jack in office slightly misplaced

Thankfully, none of the changes are too terribly time consuming and they are hopeful that they will be putting drywall and installation in over the next few weeks.  The builder did warn us, however, that because of the time needed for inspection and sign-off at this point, it may appear as though nothing is getting done (because it isn't) but that it shouldn't impact the timing as to when our house will be done.  Which he was predicting would be end-of-April or early-May.

Wahoo.  That mean's that we'd be in before Littlest Miss arrives.

And gives us a few week buffer (which I am guessing that we'll need!)

But that assumes that we can get financing.  Apparently, as of January 10, 2014, another portion of the Dodd-Frank act phased in and it seems as that none of the real estate professionals (our realtor, lender, etc.) knew about it until now.  Thus, the loan structure that we were planning on obtaining is off the table.  Currently, we are waiting to hear from the lender regarding other possible structures.  So fingers crossed he is able to come up with something...

...in the meantime, we'll be saving all of our pennies.

...otherwise, its decision time.  And not a decision that I want to have to make.  Fingers crossed!

UPDATE!!!!  I just got a note from our lender.  They found someone who will do our original structuring!  Time to start pulling documents to lock this in.  Wahoo!  Oh happy day!!
