Littlest Miss - Week 26

Thursday, March 20, 2014

So Tuesday was kind of a big deal...it marked exactly 100 days to littlest miss's due date.  And why is that a big deal?  Because in my mind, once you hit the 100 day mark, everything seems to go even faster.  Not entirely sure how it can go any faster than it currently is, but somehow it manages to happen.

[BUMP PIC PLACEHOLDER]

Size of BabyThe network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about 1 2/3 pounds and measures 14 inches (about the size of a scallion) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles should soon begin to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three months.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've largely avoided the scale.  Not because I don't want to know but because it's generally been a busy week.  My guess is that I've added a pound or two to make my total weight gain about 6 pounds.  We'll find out officially at my next appointment two weeks from tomorrow.

Maternity Clothes: Still the same as in the past --a  combo of maternity pants or belly bands on normal pants.  All normal shirts and dresses.  Although some dresses and shirts seem to be getting to short and the belly band isn't working nearly as well...may be time to pick up a few maternity essentials.

Gender: More pink and tu-tus.  Another sweet baby GIRL!

Movement: A lot.  And some of it is painful.  I can only hope that the painful movements are Littlest Miss trying to flip herself around (at 24 weeks she was breached with her head nestled in my ribs)

Food Cravings:  Rice Crispy Treats.  I may have made them twice in the last two weeks and I may have eaten half the batch as desert last night and breakfast this morning.  Probably not ideal for the weight gain.  Oh well.

What I miss: Not feeling exhausted.  But otherwise, nothing I can't live without.

Sleep: Sleep is great.  I have no trouble falling asleep and once I am out, I am out.  And for at least 8 hours a night if not more.

Symptoms: Bump and lack of energy due to already being anemic. Hoping that the iron supplements help the exhausting.  But otherwise, no real symptoms.

Best Moment this week:  All the movement.  And starting her baby quilt (I made one for Little Miss so can't jip Littlest Miss).

What I am looking forward to: Everything.  But again, the big ones of name, nursery and meeting her.  Although not in a rush for any of them!
