Littlest Miss - 27 Weeks

Thursday, March 27, 2014

And somewhere along the way, we said good bye to the 2nd trimester and hello to the third trimester.  It really seems like this pregnancy is going by at lightening speed.  And the scary thing is that it will only go faster from this point on.

Size of BabyThis week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (about the size of a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: To be honest, I don't know.  I've eaten like crap lately (um, hello ice cream and candy) but when I got on the scale the other night it still was at 4 lbs.  I guess I'll find out for sure a week from tomorrow at my 28-week appointment.

Maternity Clothes: Still the same as in the past --a  combo of maternity pants or belly bands on normal pants.  All normal shirts and dresses.  However, the shirts and dresses that I can actually wear are becoming limited.  I feel like I wear the same thing day-after-day.

Gender: More pink and tu-tus.  Another sweet baby GIRL!

Movement: A lot.  And some of it is painful.  I can only hope that the painful movements are Littlest Miss trying to flip herself around (at 24 weeks she was breached with her head nestled in my ribs)

Food Cravings:  Anything sweet.  Ice cream, cookies, candy, you name it.

What I miss: Not feeling exhausted.  But otherwise, nothing I can't live without.

Sleep: Sleep is great.  I have no trouble falling asleep and once I am out, I am out.  And for at least 8 hours a night if not more.

Symptoms: Bump and lack of energy due to already being anemic. Hoping that the iron supplements help the exhausting.  Oh and my back started hurting quite a bit yesterday.  Hopefully, its not a sign of what's to come.

Best Moment this week:  Is it sad that I don't have one?  This week went by too quickly!  Although Little Miss insisted on having Minnie give Littlest Miss hugs and kisses last night.  It was pretty sweet.

What I am looking forward to: Everything.  But again, the big ones of name, nursery, my shower, and meeting her.  Although not in a rush for any of them!

  1. I hear ya on the weeks flying by! But then again I think about the fact that I am not due until July and that seems like forever away!
