Littlest Miss - Week 29

Friday, April 11, 2014

Busy week.  Means that this is being posted one day late.  Better late than never!  And like every other week, where did this past week go?

Size of BabyYour baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (about the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: At my appointment last week, I was up 6 pounds.  Still up just 6 pounds this morning as well.  Hard to believe that Littlest Miss weighs just under half of this amount.

Maternity Clothes: Same old, same old.  Maternity pants and/or belly band.  Normal shirts and dresses.  I did wear a maternity dress yesterday and felt like a whale.  Needless to say, the rest of my Target purchases are going back and some Gap items were purchased yesterday.  Any other suggestion for cute maternity cloths?  I think the issue is that I need more form fitting (not loose) cloths, but who knows.

Gender: More pink and tu-tus.  Another sweet baby GIRL!

Movement: A lot.  And some of it continues to be painful.  Last week she was head down -- I can only hope that she is still head down and not trying to flip herself back to breech.

Food Cravings:  Sweets, sweets and more sweets.  I just hope that I don't fail the three hour glucose test that I had to take this week -- otherwise, I don't know what I'll eat.  Last night, I did crave a cherry slurpee from 7-11 (thank you hubs for going to get it).  Needless to say it was gone in a matter of minutes.

What I miss: Not feeling exhausted.  And being able to go for a long run.  Part of me really wants to right now, but before I can lace up my shoes, exhaustion takes over and I settle for a long walk.  But otherwise, nothing I can't live without.

Sleep: Sleep is great.  I have no trouble falling asleep and once I am out, I am out.  And for at least 8 hours a night if not more.

Symptoms: Slowly, starting.  Bump, lack of energy, some back pain, and this week some BH contractions. Ugh.  This is clearly the point were I stop enjoying being pregnant and start wishing for her arrival.

Best Moment this week:  Sadly, nothing stands out except maybe getting closer to her name and all of her movement.  But clearly the worst part was the three hour glucose test.

What I am looking forward to:  Lots.  My shower which is scheduled for the end of may.  Getting things for her nursery (sheet and the crib skirt arrived yesterday), figuring out her name, and of course...meeting her.
