Easter Weekend Recap

Friday, April 25, 2014

With the husband traveling this week, I didn't have time to blog Monday.  So I didn't have time to share all of the pics and memories from our Easter weekend -- which was spent in Houston hanging out with Loli & Pop, Uncle Kyle, Aunt Leslie and Cousin Scarlett.  Needless to say we had a blast and couldn't have asked for a better Easter weekend.

And since it's Friday, and time for:

Here are the top 5 things from this weekend:

(1) Spending time with the family

It was so great to spend so much quality time with the family.  And my favorite part was probably seeing Reese interact with her little cousin.  They were both so sweet -- and i look forward to them becoming even closer as they both grow up.  Now if only (a) we lived closer or (b) they'd finally put in that high speed train from Houston to Dallas...

(2)  Strawberry picking

I'd wanted to do this locally, but didn't have any luck finding places.  However, our good friend in Houston had taken her son to a place right by Loli & Pop so Saturday morning, we had our own outting.  Not only did we get a ton of really yummy, fresh strawberries (which I used to make a strawberry shortcake for Easter and sadly forgot to take a picture), but little miss had a blast.  She may have eaten more strawberries while picking than she actually put into our baskets...oops.

(3) Petting Zoo

Like our church, the church that the Husband grew up going to had an Eggstravaganza type event that Loli & I took her too.  And unlike the previous weekend, Little Miss actually got to go into the petting zoo and not just look at the animals from outside of the fence.  She was, of course, fearless.  Running right up to the animals to pet them, and even trying to pick most of them up.  Clearly, the bunnies were her favorite.

(4) First Snow Cone

Another treat at the Eggstravaganza.  I initially wasn't going to give her one given that she was wearing a white dress and they tend to be messy.  But pregnancy cravings took over and I wanted one -- needless to say it was quickly hijacked.  And then devoured.

(5) Easter Basket and Egg Hunts

Initially, I wasn't going to do an Easter basket, but ultimately had a fear that Loli would out-do-me.  So at the last minute I put together this basket and threw some candy and fruit snacks in some eggs.  She smiled the entire time she was finding the eggs and digging through her basket.  By far, the paint with water book was the biggest hit, and i'll likely be ordering some more.  And the eggs have kept her fairly entertained all week long...if only they would magically refill themselves with something healthy...
