Dandelion Wishes

Monday, March 31, 2014

If I could have one wish, one dandelion wish to be specific, it may be that every day be like yesterday.

We didn't do anything extraordinary, but regardless, it was perfect.  Just the three of us. Wandering around and hanging out.

Although part of it was bittersweet.

As we sat eating ice cream with Little Miss insisting on sitting on my ever-shrinking (or maybe enlarging lap), I realized, and probably really for the first time, that our weekends of three are limited.  This is not to say that we are anything but excited about the arrival of Littlest Miss, but her arrival will still be a change.  A change from three to four.  A change of no longer being able to spoil just one.  But rather on focus on that change, I'd rather just live it up for the next twelve (or so weeks) and make the most memories that we can.

And then continue to make more as a family of four.

Here are a few of my favorite memories from this past Sunday:

  • Dandelion Wishes

While playing in Southlake Town Square, we wandered over to a hill and climbed up only to discover that the hill was covered in dandelions.  Daddy quickly seized the opportunity and taught Reese how to make dandelion wishes.  If only we knew what she wished for.  And thankfully we were able to get her off the hill...otherwise there may not have been any dandelions left for anyone else.  Girl was obsessed!

  • Ice Cream Dreams

After dandelions, the ice cream shop was conveniently open.  And since it was Sunday and we'd already eaten lunch, we thought why not.  Clearly, little miss enjoyed it.  Until she spilled her remaining ice cream on the floor of Gap and we had to take the last few bites of her cone.  Momma is just thankful that I choose vanilla ice cream for her as more of her ice cream may have ended up on my lap than in Little Miss's tummy.
  • Fountain Fun

Little Miss loves water features.  And I mean love.  And this one was no different.  She initially started out putting flowers in the fountain until some sweet girl came over and gave Little Miss and another little girl some coins to throw into the fountain.  Instant hit.  Although I was just waiting for her to fall in the entire time.  Thankfully she didn't!
  • Unconditional Love

There was a statute in the town square as well and Reese absolutely loved the little boy.  As immediately held his hand and gave him the longest hug ever.  Total heart melting moment.  I just don't think she realized that the boy was not real, only a statute.  But given the cuteness, I didn't want to be the one to bust her bubble.
  • New Best Friend

Auntie Barbara sent Little Miss an Elsa doll.  Needless to say, they are already best friends.  Esla has gone everywhere with us.  However, if this morning is any indication, Elsa may be a bit of a trouble maker in real life as Reese spilled her milk during breakfast, looked at me entirely straight faced and said, "My milk.  Elsa spilled."  I quickly explained to her that Elsa did not spill it that she did -- and ran to the next room to laugh and call the husband.

How was your weekend?  Hope it was as great (and relaxing) as ours!
