Still Moving

So last week's house update, was more about the current frustrations.  Now, don't get me wrong.   They haven't been magically addressed and/or fully fixed yet, but I am hopeful that they will be prior to closing (especially since I reiterated yesterday that we would not close with the island "as-is").  Thus, it does beg the question as to what the proposed remedies are.  Well, here you go.  Let's start with the good news:

The Wine Room

The builder sent us a sketch over Monday of their proposal.  It included partitioning off the back of the wine room and putting in shelves with notches.  Visually, I couldn't imagine it while looking at the drawing.  So we trekked out there that night.  After both of us hemming and hawing over the proposed design, we agreed that it was generally the best fix without us incurring additional fees.  Our only concern was that they only wanted to put in 5 shelves in the entire wine room.

This solution didn't sit well with us for two reasons: (1) it seemed like a lot of wasted space and (2) it would only hold roughly 20 bottles of wine, which clearly isn't enough.  Thus, I sent back this sketch yesterday, essentially mimicking theirs but adding in additional shelves.  We didn't measure the closet last night, but I would think that the right number of shelves is about between eight and twelve.  We'll see what they come back with.

The Island

I was told Monday that there will not be any additional work done as it was installed per plan.  Funny how this girl was only ever shown a blue print, without 3-D detail showing what it would actually look like.  Needless to say, I reiterated that this was an issue that would likely hold up closing.  Thus, an email has been sent such that the sales manager and project manager can elevate the issue.  Fingers crossed they come back with something more functional than the current version.

Other than that, things are progressing.  Here are a few of the pics that I snapped on Sunday:

And last but not least, Little Miss is clearly excited about moving into her new house.  She may do something similar in every room, every time we go to the house:
