Littlest Miss definitely had a blast at her first egg hunt that she could navigate herself. At first I was concerned that she wouldn't get the concept, but fear not. This girl knew exactly what to do. Instinct, y'all! So much so that in the ten minutes while we waited for the green light we had to hold her because all she wanted to do was grab those eggs!
Trying to stay warm before the 0-2 egg hunt
Not so patiently waiting
Patience wearing thin, but trying to stay warm
It was a big field...with lots of littles!
And for not yet being two, I'd say she did pretty good.
Stuffing that make-shift basket
There's candy in these...yum!
I think the funniest part of the morning was the declaration that egg hunts in general are similar to the Hunger Games. At first we all got a good laugh at this just before the 3 &4 year old hunt...and it definitely seemed to hold true as Little Miss fell immediately out of the gate and didn't come away with that many eggs.
But still proud of her loot
Checking out the goods
However, the Hunger Games analogy really played out at the 5 & 6 year old hunt -- the moms held the older kids hands, explained the plan to head to the middle, lined up track style and awaited "Go!"
This time, the kids made out like bandits and got a ton of eggs -- and somewhat peacefully, at least for the first 20 seconds. And then you just sensed it...the surge...and within seconds there was a wall of kids storming at us in search of the remaining eggs.

Needless to say this method worked out much better...check out the egg count this time!
All in all, it was a great morning, a great day with new friends, and a great way to kick off Easter 2016, which much to the husbands dismay includes at least two more Easter egg hunts!
